What Are Birthstones?
Birthstones are simply gemstones symbolizing one’s month of birth. There origin has been dated back to the breastplate of Aaron which actually contained twelve gems representing Israel’s tribes. Birthstones are linked to numerous legends about their mythical healing powers and therapeutic influence. According to the legends wearing of a particular birthstone in its assigned month heightens the stones healing power. People were advised to own the twelve stone and alternate them monthly as per the stones allocated month for full effect.
